Clemson has won the College Football Playoff Championship. They beat the Alabama Crimson Tide 35-31 on a touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson to Hunter Renfrow with one second left. This play was set up by a pass interference call on Alabama’s Anthony Averett with 9 seconds left. Deshaun Watson was 37-57 for 425 yards and 3 touchdowns and a fumble lost. He also had 21 rushes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Wayne Gallman had 18 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown and a fumble lost. O.J. Howard had 4 receptions for 106 yards and one touchdown, almost equalling his touchdown total in last year’s championship game(5 receptions for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns last year). Howard is expected to slide into the 22nd overall pick according to bleacher report. Jalen Hurts went 13-31 for only 131 yards and a touchdown. He also had 10 rushes for 63 yards and a touchdown. Ryan Anderson had 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumbles recovered. Now that Clemson has earned it’s revenge, we will see how next year plays out.
