Rougned Odor, the starting second baseman for the Texas Rangers, was resigned on Thursday to a six-year, $49.5 million dollar contract extension that included two horses. Odor was coming off a season in which he hit 33 doubles, the same number of  home runs, and 88 RBIs in only 150 games. The downside of the season, though, was his fight with Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista. After Bautista was hit with a 98 mph fastball, there was a lot of tension. After that, on a routine double play, Bautista slid way over second base to try to break up Odor’s throw to first. Then it escalated. Odor started by shoving Bautista, and as they both wound up to punch, this happened:

After the punch, a bench-clearing brawl occurred. Odor was suspended eight games, while Bautista was suspended one. Personally, I  think that over-sliding the base should be against the rules in baseball, because this is what happens. In my opinion, Bautista should have been suspended more games, because he started the fight. I do not think the MLB was very fair to Odor.

Odor has played three  years, and is only 23. is signing is great for the team, and it should help them contest for the playoffs this year.
