Dirk Nowitzki reached 30,000 points against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. He was on fire in the game, as he entered still having 20 points to go, and reached the mark with 10 minutes and 58 seconds to go in the first half. He ended up scoring 25 points and snagging 11 rebounds in only 24 minutes in this huge night. Still, it took him 19 seasons to reach this mark, which is considered a lot. He averages 21.8 PPG and 7.8 RPG in his career, and is the second person to score 30,000 points and have 10,000 rebounds He joined an elite club of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, and also Julius Erving, but Erving only reached the mark with his ABA points included. Nowitzki is also the first international player to join the club, as he hails from Germany. Dirk is now the only active player in the NBA with 30,000 points. Many players are close to the mark, as Lebron James is the closet active player with 28,316 points. He will probably set the record for the youngest player to reach the mark as he is doing very well. It will be another thing he can add to his list of records.
Dirk Nowitzki is a great player, and you’ve got to feel good for him. Here’s to another 30,000.
